Dr. Bobby H. Welch

Dr. Welch now serves two soul winning ministries: Strategist for Global Evangelical Relations for the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention and Associate Executive Director/Church Growth with the Tennessee Baptist Convention. He was appointed to Global Relations in March, 2007 and Tennessee Baptist Convention in May, 2011.

In his Global position he literally crisscrosses North America and the globe for the sake of strengthening existing relationships and starting new relationships with like-minded evangelicals for the sake and future of The Great Commission.  He has been personally involved in “connecting” relationships in over 27 countries

As Tennessee’s Associate Director/Church Growth position he focuses on encouraging churches in evangelism, baptisms and discipleship.

Welch says, “My desire is to tell people about Jesus and encourage others to do the same. I’m not the best soul winner but I am one that tries. That’s my heart.”

Prior to this posistion he was:

·        President – of the Southern Baptist Convention for 2 terms, 2004-2006.

·        Pastored First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, Florida for 32 years.

·        He continues to be the Originator of the F.A.I.T.H. Evangelism/Discipleship Strategy, used around the world.

Military:

Before leaving the U.S. Army he received the rank of Captain, he had become a Paratrooper, Ranger, Jungle Expert, Green Beret, receiving the Bronze Star with "V" Device for bravery, Purple Heart, Air Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and other decorations. As a recon platoon leader in Vietnam he was shot and given up for dead, at which time God miraculously intervened in a life changing way that resulted in his call to the ministry. Welch is one of the most heard Southern Baptist “God and Country” speakers.

His book, “You The Warrior Leader” encourages Christian principles and truths using the language of military jargon. Many pastors and leaders have said, “This book will preach!”
